Fernando Botero
There is currently an exhibition at the New Orleans Museum of Art that will present The Baroque World of Fernando Botero, the first major U.S retrospective of his work in more than 30 years. The exhibit will run from June 28 to September 21, 2008. However, you don’t have to travel all the way to New Orleans if you live in Southern California to see Botero pieces. MOLAA currently has two paintings and a sculpture on view.
Due to MOLAA’s affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, the museum currently has The Street, 1980 and the sculpture, The Big Hand, 1978, on loan from the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Smithsonian’s museum of international modern and contemporary art. Also, currently on loan from Rassak Holdings Limited is Bashful Family, 1968.
