Cuban evening at molaa
25Jun08
In celebration of MOLAA’s current Cuban exhibitions by Wifredo Lam and Carlos Luna, the museum hosted a Night in Cuba, on Saturday, June 21. The evening included music by La Charanga Cubana, a group nominated for a 2007 Latin Grammy and DJ Saoco. The evening would not have been complete without authentic Cuban food, drinks and cigars, of which there was plenty. There was also plenty of dancing in spite of record breaking heat temperatures in Long Beach! Docent-led tours of the exhibitions were also available to guests.
It was a great way to mark the kick off of the museum’s Latin Caribbean themed summer!

Es una pena no haber asistido a la inauguración de estas exposiciones de artistas de mi país. Lam es para mí un referente constante y veo en las obras de Luna toda la cubanía esplendida y la filosofía positiva tan nuestra.
For those of you who don’t speak Spanish, the person who wrote the comment above wishes she’d attended the opening of our current exhibitions. For her, Lam is a constant reference point. In Luna’s work she sees the splendor and positive philosophy that embodies what it is to be Cuban.
Excuse me my mistake, due to make my comments in English, but I get carried away by the Cuban spontaneity.
Thanks for the translation, my comment was understandable for many.
